I work at DreamWorks Animation (Kung Fu Panda 2, The Croods): Glorified tech support by day. Wannabe artist by night. Millionaire writer in my dreams. Fueled by free food.

Hm, I definitely think it’s the cellphone - more specifically, the smart-phone. Long distance is now no distance. As technology gets smaller and more advanced, I think we can learn to live more connected and more efficiently (I love efficient, it’s a like weird fetish…). We can record and analyze more data, share more ideas. Plus, my Droid doubles as a GPS so I can go to new places. I think the more portable our technology becomes, the less we will be bound by it.
Theoretically.
My only fear is that people will become lazy and dependent. I try not to use my phone-GPS after I’ve been to a place twice - just in case, you know? But my roommate looks less at her surroundings because she has a GPS. Why bother to learn anything when you can search it at your fingertips? (In another story, I think this is kind of how we’re approaching the Singularity…) The problem is searching content - content has to be created first, and you need people for that.
I also like electric cars. But I like trains better. I love trains. Like, I’m Sheldon from Big Bang Theory.
